Product Description

The Arc Eye Hawkfish is a bold and charismatic saltwater fish, instantly recognizable by the vivid blue “arc” marking behind its eye and its robust body. Known for its perching behavior and watchful nature, this fish adds personality and vibrant color to fish-only or carefully planned reef aquariums.

Description:

Common Name: Arc Eye Hawkfish

Scientific Name: Paracirrhites arcatus

Family: Cirrhitidae

Size: Up to 5 inches (12.5 cm)

Temperament: Semi-aggressive

Difficulty: Easy

Reef Safe: With caution

Native Region:

The Arc Eye Hawkfish is found throughout the Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to Hawaii, typically inhabiting coral reefs where it perches on rocks and coral heads to ambush prey.

Aquarium Setup:

Tank Size: Minimum of 40 gallons

Temperature: 74-80°F (23-27°C)

pH: 8.0-8.4

Salinity: 1.023-1.025

Substrate: Live rock with plenty of ledges and perching spots.

Additional Tips:

Behavior: Likes to perch and observe its surroundings; may show aggression toward smaller fish and shrimp.

Compatibility: Best kept with larger, semi-aggressive tank mates; not suitable with small ornamental shrimp.

Diet: Carnivorous; feed a varied diet of meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, krill, chopped seafood, and marine pellets.

Coral Safety: Generally does not nip at corals, but may disturb them while perching. Secure loose frags to prevent toppling.
